TED (Technology Entertainment Design) finishes up while BIL (Booze. Intellectuals. Learning.) starts, the two overlapping today. I look forward to seeing what comes out of these to entities.

Some past speeches from TED

There's a whole film documenting the 2006 TED conference, called The Future We Will Create, I just watched it and it was really good. Very interesting seeing the diversity of people and ideas they have there. If it wasn't $4400 for the whole thing, I'd love to go and check it out myself.
They even had the author of The Purpose-Driven Life, the ultra-hardcore Evangelical Christian book (which is a terrible book, imo) and then immediately followed his speech with this old philosopher atheist who talked about religious closed-mindedness....
Good stuff.
It looks like some pretty major, forward-thinking ideas, creations and philanthropic endeavors have come out of TED, which is awesome.
I don't know where you can see the movie, I watched it as one of the 'free play' movies through our Netflix account... but you might be able to find it elsewhere online.
