So I was surfing harmless, standard news websites the other day, when suddenly my computer had a little pop-up 'Windows Alert' balloon from the tray in the lower-right, informing me that my computer may be infected with viruses!! OH NO!! I thought, and clicked the balloon to find out more, which opened up a window to a program I didn't know I had, called SPYWARE PROTECT 2009...., it then proceeeded to 'scan my computer', and then told me I was positively riddled with viruses!
OH NO AGAIN!!
How could this be?!?
Maybe I should follow the link it kept pushing at me, to "purchase the full program" so I could delete these awful viruses!
NAH, I thought, maybe later....

But then that darn balloon kept popping up from the tray telling me how infected I was. I would click the X to close it, then one minute later it would pop up again, wtf...
So I decided to take a closer look at this informative balloon... And then it all became clear.
If you couldn't tell by now, the whole thing is a massive hoax, put forward by the creators of these spyware programs, who imitate ANTI-Spyware programs in order to get your cash.
They're pretty common actually these days, I have encountered them before, but this one was truly special. I did a screen-print of this sweet alert, so you can see it as well.
Read it closely!

Apparently Microsoft is getting awfully lazy these days, as it appears that "computer is infected", and you can simply click here "for the scan you computer"!
I'm sure you've always wanted to "for the scan you computer"! Especially everytime Windows reports that "computer is infected"!
