For those of you who are in the Portland Area or are feeling adventurus and like doing something PDX Peace is holding an all day event:

"March 15 World Without War: A Day of Resistance and Hope
Stop the War,
Bring the Troops Home Now!

South Park Blocks, Portland

March 15th, 2008

We're planning a day of action for the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. Save the date to join PDX Peace to say no to war and organize for peace. Check back to this space for more information.

PDX Peace coalition members have decided to put on an all-day event with action tents, a march and rally, and more opportunities for Portland to explore what we can do to end this war and prevent the next one."

PDX Peace is a pretty good way of finding out about events that are going on in the Portland Activism Scene.

i am very greatful that we have the ability to organize and protest what we like (or don't like as the case may be). i think that there should be more protests against oil companies, and more boycotts of products. unfortunately, those don't work unless you can convince enough people country wide to participate.
oh, if you have kids, you may consider protesting "hannah montana". I went to see a movie on the same nighta as her movie debuted, and was shocked by the kids and the parents. the children as young as four years old were wearing make up and clothes fit for speed addicted prostitutes... and their parents were wearing the same thing! it was disgusting, but i guess people like the idea of pediphelia... you web admins should consider getting a spell checker on your forum post thing.

I agree with everything you said!

First of all If America wasnt so happily addicted with the overall "Comfort" of our life style I think it would very benefitial to have a Gas Boycot, just for a couple days would show The Oil companies America is tired of being messed with.. But Everyone has to go to work, and no one wants to be told when to do anything, so they would either not do it Or fillup extra before and after, balancing out the shares lost from the protest.. I wonder if there are more impactful and easier organized ways of hitting messages home to Large Corps' andBlind Govt's? Orwhatever else there is to protest and assemble for....

Hanna Montanna- GAWD.. I am so sick of seeing this girls face slapped on everything!Next thing you know disney will come out with their own porno-line. Its really discustiong how they take a child, who has few if any perception of itself andf turn it into not just a "superstar' but a PRODUCT. A product that parents blindly pickup and think well its a disney show, they were wholesome in the 50's therefore she must be wholesome now- and dont even bother looking at what they are getting their kids into.. Bratz toys as well should also defintly be boycotted, really they are toys that are whores with bad attitudes that care about nothing but makeup clothes and boys.. and the best part is thes "dolls" are suppoesd to be middle to highschool girls! (the only thing I see that is actually cool notpsychologically damaging out of the line is their 'sets' they have a recording studio that looks like Barbie would live to Jam in! But that is beside the point...)

We could advocate for parents to be more consciously aware when purchasing things for their kids.. that is a thing I could get fired up about..I like the concept of fliers and stickers.. they seem to be more engaging and people seem to have less of a negative reaction than to crowds of people with bullhorns , though I do believe that if you can attain that much of a following and it is peaceful and well organized then it SHOULD be done.

And We will look into if we can attain a spell checker.. I have been desiring one as well... :)
