Since what tiny, tiny shred of credibility the Bush administration had in my eyes was completely obliterated with our invasion of Iraq and total decimation of the Iraqi infrastructure and society...
I have come to completely distrust 99% of the things that they have to say anymore, and immediately look to find their ulterior motives, which anymore are just plain obvious.
Which brings me to Iran, and the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad. (Mok-mood Aw-med-eed-uh-jod, for those who don't know)
Never before have I seen SUCH an incredible difference between what we are told about someone, and what EVERY OTHER PIECE OF EVIDENCE tell us about them.
In my eyes, this is a tragedy.
Now maybe Ahmedinejad is a good guy, maybe he's a total bastard, I don't know, anymore than I could say the same for anyone else on the planet I've never met...
BUT - here we have this high-pressure, media-lubed anti-Iran machine brough to us by BushCo, which would have us believing that he's the most evil thing since Satan himself.
We're told he want to "Wipe Israel Off The Map"!! Gasp!! How could he say such a thing as president of a country!?
Fact is, he never did, and millions of people all across the globe gobbled it up like good little children because the TV told them so.
What he said was that he envisioned a future in which the Israeli regime a.k.a. current government, would be "erased from the pages of history" or some similar translation. In other words, he was using a metaphor to say that he wasn't really a fan of the current Israeli government. WOW. RED ALERT. HE'S GONNA NUKE THEM. Please. These are common statements made by ALL governments towards other governments ALL THE TIME.
But we sure managed to put it through the propaganda machine and have it spit out pure evil, didn't we?

Another thing he is constantly accused of is being a dreaded "Holocaust Denier", which (surprise!) HE ISN'T!
When he confronted about this at Columbia University for the trillionth time because it had been blared over TV so many times, he clearly stated that he never denied the Holocaust, still doesn't, and then went on to say how ridiculous it was for anyone to deny such a thing, OR accuse him of being so stupid. He made some comment in the past about how the case isn't closed when it comes to the Holocaust because the roots of the tragedy have never been fully understood, and that the displacement of Palestinian people by moving the Jews in has only continued the problem by continuing the hostilies between blah blah blah...
Nothing even close to "Holocaust Denial"

Furthermore, this spawn of the devil went so far as to try and engage diplomatically with Bush multiple times, by writing him letters, offering to debate their differences, anf generally being open and direct with America! Of course, Bush being the ultimate tough-guy, he rejected Ahmedinejad's letters and everything else, and continued to talk about the dark threat of Nuclear Annihilation from Iran's Wack-o Loose Cannon President!!!
Also, did you know that Ahmedinejad has written TWO LETTERS DIRECTLY TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC? Oh you didn't? That's probably because the media completely refused to mention them and promptly forgot about them the second they arrived.
However, if you actually read them, you will see a completely level-headed man, talking straight with America about the problems that the world faces, the many challenges that all humans are going to have to confront, and an offer of working together to come to an understanding of each other's differences, cultural, religious and political, so that we can move forward as a planet. Wow.
Not a drop of insanity, "nuttiness", craziness, or anything remotely like that. Every time he's on TV, he seems fairly quiet, kinda humble and soft-spoken...

AND YET - if you believe American media and/or the Bush Administration and by extension almost ANY Republican, you will find yourself in a fit of terror over this crazy man's intentions to build nukes and USE THEM against Israel and maybe even the US!! OMG!
Even though our OWN National Intelligence Estimate recently said that Iran had completely stopped any activity that even COULD have THEORETICALLY lead to a Nuclear Weapons program.....back in 2003!

So yeah. I urge you all to be extra vigilant in your lives and in the future when it comes to being told about such threats by government officials. There are many other motives at stake here, namely: OIL
It's the reason Saddam invaded Kuwait, and it's the reason we stopped him, and then turned around and invaded Saddam. Anyone who says we didn't invade Iraq because of oil on the premise of "we don't even need Iraq's oil!" clearly doesn't understand the situation. Oil runs this planet. And that's not some cliche, it's the truth. America reached PEAK oil production back in 1970! Which means it's been declining ever since, even as demand shoots through the roof. And where are the largest oil-reserves on the planet? The middle east of course.
We can be smart or we can play dumb, but the facts are the facts and these middle-east wars aren't over, because those who are truly in power will do whatever it takes to secure our power/money lifeblood, and it lies beneath the sands of other nations.
I just really hope that they don't resort to another false-flag terror attack in order to convince Americans to go along with their secretive oil-wars.

Sorry for the long post, I just had to get this out there. :)

Thanks.

The discrepancy between Ahmedinejad's actions and what's been fed through the media seemed pretty drastic to me and I agree w/ you on almost all points. Though I obviously don't know him, his letters, speeches and attempts at communication and resolution seemed lucid and well intentioned.

Here's one of his letters to the public for those who haven't read it:

And here's a letter to Bush:

Yes, thanks for posting those. I noticed in the letter to the American people, there is a typo though, the sentence that begins "we are not faced with..."
Should be:
"we are now faced with..."

Oh well. I think people should read these letters for themselves and decide if this guy is a 'madman' or not.

well good man bad man, nukes or not, (you both know already I am similar in your statements on Ahmedinejad) one things for sure The people in control are going to perpetually push Iran until Iran feels the HAVE to retaliate (these last sanctions.. jezuz) Or until they get tired of waiting for Iran to get pissed and just go for it.. I highly doubt that American powerholders arent going to create war with Iran. Its enfuriating and sickening as well as saddening all in one! Ahh, nothing like the fresh promise of endless war!....

...ug... statments like that are hard to make onliine... vocal connotaions are needed for proper emphais.. damn voiceless interweb....

And now what happens? The leader of CentCom (Central Command) William Fallon just got THE BOOT for daring to say in an interview that he disagreed with Bush on war with Iran, and may have been the sole person standing between the president and another senseless war.
I'm glad he had the balls to do and say what was right. Too bad he was immediately FIRED for not falling in line with these psychopathic blood-lusting war-mongers. Grrrrr....

Well Mr. Ahmedinejad has made another public appearance, and, right on cue, the media has fired up the propaganda machine in an attempt to make him look like a crazy, racist, Israel-destroying, holocaust-denying madman. As usual.
This article has it all, the smorgasbord of terminology that leads you by your ignorance into hating this 'creep'.
You see, he's not a leader. He's a "hard-line leader".
He doesn't just give a speech. He gives a "rambling speech"
The article doesn't even discuss the U.N. racism conference in any significant way. It is solely a hit piece on Ahmedinejad, and the Western nations coordinated, pre-planned "walk-out" once he began mentioning Israel, the most precious, un-criticizeable nation on Earth.
Here's a sample:

"As soon as he started to address the question of the Jewish people and Israel, we had no reason to stay in the room," said French Ambassador Jean-Baptiste Mattei.

Speaking directly after Ahmadinejad, Norway's foreign minister said the Iranian leader's comments "run counter to the very spirit of dignity of the conference."

Ahmadinejad "has made Iran the odd man out," Jonas Gahr Store said.

Even before his speech, Ahmadinejad polarized the meeting, which is intended to examine all forms of intolerance around the world.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, and in case you forgot that BS about him wanting to "destroy Israel", and being a "Holocaust Denier", they made sure to include that again too.
This crap won't end until we're all convinced enough of his "evil" to support military action against Iran. What other reason could there be for this extended, propaganda campaign aimed at the American people?
