30year no hitting the kids law ..
http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20091005/wl_csm/osmack

The last sentance in the article pretty much sums up WHY people choose to hit spank, slap ect their children pretty clearly.. It is easier. It is easier to strike fear into a child rather than to teach it, it is easier to lash out and cause physical harm than to think about, expalin and communicate your emotions, your logic and the reasons for them. It is easier because it is an impulsove, animalistic behavior that humans have been accepting as the norm for far too long.
Children arent seen as people, they are seen as property, the statement made about if an adult is angering, disagreeing or upsetting another adult it is not acceptable to hit them, but it is okay for a child to be hit in a sense proves that. They are not seen as equal human beings, until they reach a certain age (in which they can no longer be "dominated" for lack of a better word.) This is a HUGE thing that i think humans need to overcome in their "acceptable" actions. Violence is so readily accepted by us all People failing to accept that raising a child without violence is actually a better more productive and benefical way for not only the parent child relationship but the entire human races benefit is only holding us back from so many pathways to a better existence overal.

I completely agree. Spanking (aka hitting) is the easy (and cowardly) way to punish children. Not only can it be cruel and painful, but it inhibits the boundaries of development. Children raised through fear and domination often lead to less than happy adult lives and end up usually passing that same fear and dominating attitude on to their own children. The cycle needs to be broken. Raising children is an immense and, at times, frustrating challenge. All parents have to deal with the challenge of thier children testing the limits of their parent's patience. IMO, spanking them into submission is an awful submission to our basest instincts, and is something that humans to need to strive to move beyond.
